USO Fort Hood volunteer Mallory Reece eagerly awaits the start of the Honk Parade.
The Easter Bunny made his way down the bunny trail through the neighborhoods of Fort Hood this past Friday. He was the star of a parade of vehicles decorated with pastel ribbons, balloons, and stuffed animals.
Though the kids weren’t able to greet him up close due to practicing safe social distancing; the parade was a much needed distraction from the realities of COVID-19. While the event only lasted a few hours, the joy and laughter brought to these communities surely lasted much longer.
The Easter Bunny Honk Parade began by the Kouma Community Center, going through Kouma, then to Montague, then to Pershing Park, and finally through Venable Village. It was a joint endeavor involving many partners; Fort Hood Family Housing, DES, Fort Hood Fire Department, MWR, and of course the USO. Each organization broke into teams and drove pre-selected routes to ensure that every on-post community could enjoy the Easter celebration.
Earlier in the week, USO Fort Hood staff partnered with Fort Hood Family Housing to deliver Easter eggs to participating Fort Hood housing members.
